Red Couch Diaries

Zoe had a bad day. After she screamed for about 4 straight hours, we took her to the clinic in the hotel where a doctor and a nurse gave her an exam. She has an infection in her throat and right ear. Luckily we had brought some antibiotics, but she needed some ear drops. The cost of the exam and the ear drops: 100RMB or about $20. Wait time: Zero. Period. No extra insurance. Yea, America has the medical system in the world. Right. We left the doctor with the meds we brought that we plainly did not need.

Anyway, she's was a bit grumpy for the red couch photo shoot. This is where all the kids in the adoption group show up and get photographed on one of the many red couches in the lobbies of the hotel. This time the group was very lucky that Laura was there; the "photographer's" camera died after about 6 shots. What photographer doesn't bring extra batteries? So they asked to use Laura's (clearly superior) camera for the rest of the shots. And then Laura took a bunch of extra shots that you can see are clearly better if you pop over to snapfish to see all the new photos.

We skipped the group dinner and grabbed some takeout. A good thing too; Zoe's mood did not improve.

Update: And now Zoe and I have pink eye. Oh Joy! We brought meds for that too! I will say that we planned pretty well.
